This month's talk is brought to you by Pascal de Vink and Matthias Noback. Pascal's talk, titled "Things I was unprepared for as a lead developer", will be aimed at working as a Lead Developer. Matthias will be giving you a bird's-eye view on several subjects which you'd like to keep up with, or even implement in this day and age of development.

Things I was unprepared for as a lead developer - Pascal de Vink
This is not a story of how I survived a big technology company or startup. This is not the story of a young junior developer working his way through the ranks to become the greatest leader of all.

No. Instead, this is the story of how I became a lead developer and all the things I did wrong. It's about delegating, culture building, mentoring, planning, meetings (oh dreadful meetings), upper management and all the other stuff that a leader has to go through. It's also about all the fun I had and the things I learned. Next to that, I'm going to hand out some tips that can prepare you for the job a little better. And hopefully, it will inspire you to be the greatest leader of all.

All the cool kids... - Matthias Noback
The PHP world is spinning quite fast these days. There’s a lot to keep up with. You can’t be an expert in all subjects, so you need a way to find out what’s relevant for you and your team. Which approaches to software development would be useful? Which programming paradigms could help you write better code? And which architectural styles will help your application to survive in this quickly changing world? In this talk I’ll help you answer these questions by taking a bird’s-eye view. I will quickly guide you along some of the most fascinating topics in modern PHP development: DDD, BDD, TDD, hexagonal architecture, CQRS, event sourcing and micro-services. We’ll see how these things are related to each other, and how understanding and applying them can help you improve your software projects in many ways.

I like the ECE campus location. Unfortunately we had this time some noisiness from the other events around us.

The "All the cool kids" talk was nice. I've seen some talks about CQRS/ES and what I miss is some real world examples. Like how would you implement it with a shopping cart on a website.
