The Code Manifesto
There's an elephant in the room and it's not our mascot. The talk was passionate and empowering, and managed to cover a sensitive topic without being aggressive or condescending. I doubt there would be a single person in the room who left without wondering what they can do to help.

Simple Machine Learning
Christopher was very charismatic, humorous and a I think did a really good job of explaining a complex, mathematical subject first thing in the morning. I would personally have liked it dumbed down even further. The subject is quite complex and I struggled with that. That might be my fault though. :)

Mentoring: Change the World One Hour at a Time
Beth was direct and clear. I went in thinking "maybe there's something I can give back" and left thinking "I want to be an apprentice too". It did leave in my mind that it's a big commitment though so I want to know I have time before I try it myself. The talk itself was a touch dry and maybe lacked examples, however at a meta level Beth was humourous and engaged well with the audience.

Imposter Syndrome and Individual Competence
Really fun, really helpful, really reassuring. Loved the honesty and the cute pictures. A small part of the talk sounded a bit contradictory to me though: visible minorities are worse affected because they are looking at people who don't look like them vs we're more affected by social media because we are looking at people more like us.

Security Theatre
Great slides, good humour. Perfect broad coverage without going needlessly into detail. Kitties!

Elastic scaling in a (micro)service oriented architecture
I've been wanting to start using Vault + Consul for a while. This talk was informative without getting overly deep and has given me the confidence to keep exploring it.

Docker & PHP - development and deployment
Docker has always seemed scary to me. Syzmon made such light work of explaining it with a minimal number of simple examples really demystified it for me.
