Building a scalable distributed websocket architecture with PHP
Really good talk / tutorial session. James covered a lot of concepts and technologies in a short amount of time as well as being very friendly and answering all questions concisely. Only criticism is that at some times it was a bit too fast for someone with no previous experience of web sockets, but being provided with all of the exercises will allow me to catch up at a later date. Would also be good to be provided with the docker instance before the session to avoid the ~20 minute download.

End-to-end testing with Behat
Great introduction to Behat with simple instructions and resources to follow along. Antonis is a very patient teacher and spent with people individually making sure they were caught up. The only improvement would be to email out the requirement of downloading JDK and Chrome Selenium extensions beforehand to avoid long downloads.

PHP in 2017
Great talk about historical PHP and how it's moving forward. I love the sound of the refinements and performance improvements in PHP 7.2 and Phan is going to be fun to experiment with.

Storing Non-Scalar Data
A nice baseline talk on the different technologies you can use to store and manipulate non scalar data. I feel including more advantages and disadvantages of the technologies and scenarios to use them in would add interest personally.

Smart Scalable Content Distribution
High level talk explaining the architecture behind splitting content and your application. Found it was quite hard to follow at times, but I imagine it will make more sense with some further reading.

The Mindful Developer: Being Less Busy & More Productive
Brilliant talk covering a wide area of productivity methods and techniques that are applicable to everyone. I'm already a big fan of Getting Things Done so it's an easy sell! David was a great speaker and instantly likeable. The talk was interspersed with some humourous slides which made it easy to concentrate and follow along.
