Reviewing before he's even done; Gary could pass out right now and it would still be a 5.

Best tech conference closing keynote I've seen - great message delivered with absolute hilarity.

Superb from start to finish, 6 out of 5. Gary is great on stage - his delivery was spot on and even with the multitude of laughs in it, there were some very serious messages coupled with disarming honesty and openness. Watching this again when the videos come out :)

Excellent talk, brilliant finish to the conference, inspired me to push more into finishing off and releasing my own projects OS as well as contributing to others.

One of the best keynotes I've seen, honestly. Not just because I'm mentioned in it, but a tale that I think many folk, and certainly me, could relate to. Brilliant, great laughs, great message, and encouraging.

This talk was all about Gary. And you know what? That was more than allright. Because he can tell his story well. With passion and humour.
When I first saw Gary speak I was put off by the point he was making because it was more focussed on making money than delivering value, but his message today was _very_ inspirational (while not ignoring the making of the money)... It makes me question if I was hearing the wrong thing back then. Or maybe Gary has changed. Whatever the case may be: this is a 5 star keynote all the way and beyond.

Absolutely brilliant - incredibly well delivered, well paced with all the key ingredients, humour, satire and both thanking and berating his colleagues in equal measure hah. Well done Gary, proud of you! Spot on!

Fantastic keynote. Hits you right in the feels. Slightly too much stuff actually felt like Gary was telling my story. Except that my name is not Gary ;)

Thanks Gary. Very well done. I could not think of anything you could've done to improve it, except adding my picture ;)

Great story about how hard Gary can get hit and keep moving forward. How much he can take and keep moving forward. I enjoyed it totally. Thanks for sharing.

It's difficult to put into words how good this talk was. A fitting end to a brilliant conference.

By telling his personal story, Gary showed how getting involved in the community, helping others and contributing can essentially be so rewarding in many areas.

It could not have been delivered any better. He kept the audience totally engrossed and took them on an emotional rollercoaster with a lot of hilarious moments entwined with some hard-hitting meaningful messages.

It was an honour see this talk in person and has truly inspired me to kick on with open source myself. Hope to see this as a closing keynote at many other conferences in the future. Thanks Gary!

Excellent talk Gary. It was the perfect ending to the conference.I really enjoyed learning about your career path and how you became the Developer you are today. Many of the points you touched on made me realise I had gone through some of the same expeirances, especially the one where you suddenly realise you are not alone. This is year was my 5th year at the PHPNW conference and your talk is easily up there in the top 5 talks ever. I am really inspired and plan to increase my open source contributions as much as I can. Thank You

This was a fan-tas-tic talk! I always enjoy hearing about how people end up where they are now, and you really went all out on that - all to build up to this great underlying message of how open source literally changes lives like your own. What I loved most about this entire talk is how wholly genuine you are throughout. Even when you are poking fun at yourself, but especially when you lay bare your most vulnerable experiences (like your OSMI reaction). You have such passion and such presence, kudos to the PHPNW16 crew for giving you the opportunity to shine there as the closing keynote! Bravo!

This talk was all about Gary, or was it?!?
(Or was it actually about you, me and every other developer out there?)

Man Gary, you really know how to deliver a story.
Very moving and I so much admire your courage to confront your demons on stage.
Made me laugh very loud and made me cry (a bit).

Since last year, after Skoop's ending keynote, I have been wondering if the organisers would be able to top the ending keynote... and they did. It was nice to see the message of mental health being made aware again and the speaker giving his experience of it.

Gary is a credit the PHP community, as are others, but the honesty from start to finish was great to hear. I could relate to most of what he was saying and felt honoured to know him and have had the opportunities to chat to him.

Gary, thank you. I look forward to seeing and talking to you again, very soon I hope.

ps/ can only give 5/5 :(
